W odpowiedzi na pytania ankiety belgijska badaczka mówi o specyfice odbioru literatury polskiej w jej kraju, zwłaszcza w jego frankofońskiej części. Zwraca uwagę na walory: poetyckość, wagę reportażu jako gatunku literackiego, ale i aspekty negatywne, np. komercjalizację rynku wydawniczego.

Responding to the questionnaire, the researcher discusses the reception of Polish literature in Belgium, especially in the Francophone area. She draws attention to its advantages: poetic character, reportage as a significant genre, but also the negative aspects, such as the commercialization of the publishing market.

The present article is based on three literary rewritings of The Little Humpbacked Horse (Конёк-Горбунок, 1834): 1) The Tale of Knight Niezginek, the Self-cutting Sword and the Self-playing Gusli (Baśń o rycerzu Niezginku, mieczu samosieczu, i o gęślach samograjach) by Antoni Józef Gliński, 2) The Little Humpbacked Horse (Konik Garbusek) by Jan Brzechwa and 3) The Little Fatty Horse (O koniku Grubasku) by Jerzy Niemczuk. Gliński’s wonder tale appeared in 1853 in the second volume of The Polish Tale Teller, Brzechwa’s poem was presented in 1949 as a summary of Ivan Ivanov-Vano’s film and Niemczuk’s story was part of Mr. Mess’s Ring (Pierścień pana Bałagana) that came out in 1993. These works were therefore published in very different periods and literary contexts that had inevitable influence on writers’ approach to the Russian original.

The present article has to be understood as a first introduction on Maurice Maeterlinck’s influence on Bolesław Leśmian’s work in general. The topic being quite broad, the focus is on theater and more precisely on the connection between Pelleas and Melisande (1892) and Possessed Violin Player (1911–1912). In order to understand this intertextual parallel, biographical and historical context as well as theoretic and philosophical relations is also examined in the first and the second parts of the article. The comparison reveals striking connections, relying mainly on theater which aims to be exclusively suggestive.
