The main topic of this article is the participation of the accused’s defense attorney in the proceedings before a medical court. The article points to practical problems resulting from rather scarce regulations, which cannot always be solved even by the proper application of the Code of Criminal Procedure. In particular, the discussion focuses on the possibility of acting as a defense attorney for attorney-at-law trainees, the concept of a doctor authorized to act as a defense attorney, defense secrecy and the issue of cassation proceedings. The article concludes with conclusions from the normative analysis and postulates, which, in the author’s opinion, are to solve the existing problems
