The main objective of this following paper is to present the Portuguese future tenses together with their Polish equivalents. On the basis of the examples taken from Vergilio Ferreira’s novel Para Sempre, we are trying to describe the main functions of the future tenses. In Portuguese, the future can be expressed by different forms of the verb: simple and complex ones. In our work, we describe the use of imperfeito tense, the periphrastic verbal structures and the future simple tense. Not only do we analyze the variety of different grammatical tenses but we also explain the intricacies of aspect and modality (expressing the uncertainty, wish, probability or obligation). It is important to notice that in Polish, some future forms in Portuguese are replaced by the past forms or by the subjunctive.

The main objective of this paper is to present the changes in the Portuguese lexis under the influence of foreign languages. It discusses the evolution of lexis over the centuries to remind which languages have had the most significant impact on the Portuguese language. In this aspect, various languages stand out, such as Arabic, Italian, French and English, as well as Asian and African languages, due to the global expansion ofPortugal. It also highlights the role of English as the richest source of loanwords in modern Portuguese.

Głównym celem opracowania jest przedstawienie zmian zachodzących w leksyce portugalskiej pod wpływem języków obcych. Omówiono ewolucję leksyki na przestrzeni wieków w celu przypomnienia, jakie języki wpłynęły w najbardziej znaczący sposób na język portugalski. Wyróżniają się w tym względzie języki takie jak np. arabski, włoski, francuski i angielski, a także języki azjatyckie i afrykańskie, ze względu na światową ekspansję Portugalii. Podkreślono też rolę języka angielskiego jako najbogatszego źródła zapożyczeń we współczesnym języku portugalskim.Influência das línguas estrangeiras nas modificações do léxico portuguêsO presente estudo temcomoobjetivo estudar as modificações no léxico português que ocorreram graças à influência dos empréstimos das outras línguas. Pretende-se descrever a evolução do léxico através dos séculos para lembrar quais foram as línguas de maior importância na formação do português. Destacam-se, neste campo, as línguas taiscomoo árabe, o italiano, o francês e o inglês, assimcomoas línguas asiáticas e africanas, devido à expansão mundial portuguesa. Borrowings and fashion – examples from Portuguese and Polish magazines and web sites The main objective of this following paper is to present the loan words from Portuguese and Polish fashion magazines and websites. We are trying to describe the main characteristics of the vocabulary of fashion, with particular emphasis on loan words. Analyzing the women’s press articles and websites, we find a variety of borrowings, primarily from English. There are many words which have already integrated with Portuguese and Polish language well in the material we gathered. On the other hand there are words which are in the first phase of adoption as well as those which are used only once mostly because of their style. There are some cases where loan words are very difficult for readers.
