The article is devoted to the problem of genesis of one of actual terms, that is страхование [strakhovanie]. The author examines a complex history of its semantics, from passing of a human emotion to a terminological meaning. Word-formative and grammatical mechanisms of terminolo- gical specialization are shown, and some indistinct issues of that process are dealt with in the article.
