THE EUROPEAN UNION - EGYPT RELATIONS

100%
EN
The article presents the EU relations with Egypt which are governed by the Association Agreement which entered into force on 1st June, 2004, as well as the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership which was launched in 1995 between 12 Mediterranean countries and 15 EU member-states. The author analyses the practical consequences of the trade relations, such as: trade-in-services, EU-Egypt cooperation in science and technology, Free-trade Area (EMFTA) and Egyptian economic performance within the framework of cooperation. He concludes that Egypt has to continue its efforts to streamline and reform the banking sector through the merging of several non-performing banks, in addition to the newly established tax and customs reform policies and the improvement in the performance of the stock exchange market while highlighting Egypt's position as one of the major economic players in the region.
