Jako przykład wybrano kolaborację włoskiej firmy Prada z pracowniami OMA, Herzog & de Meuron i SANAA. W artykule zaprezentowano szerokie spektrum projektów na pograniczu architektury, mody i sztuki, przeanalizowano wzajemne podobieństwa i różnice w ramach wymienionych dziedzin. Prezentowane budynki stanowią ilustrację nowych trendów w projektowaniu architektonicznym XXI wieku i różnych reakcji na kontekst lokalny i globalny. Prezentowany materiał i wyniki badań są punktem wyjścia dla dalszych opracowań dotyczących szerszych współzależności mody i architektury.

The main goal of the article is to present and analyse the new trend concerning collaboration between fashion designers and renowned architects. The case study is based on collaboration between the Italian brand Prada and studios like OMA, Herzog & de Meuron and SANAA. The text presents a wide spectrum of projects on the border of architecture, fashion, and art. It is also an analysis of similarities and diff erences between these disciplines. The presented buildings show new architectural trends of the 21st century and various reactions towards the local and global context. The material can be a point of departure to further studies concerning relations between fashion and architecture.

Opisywane realizacje stanowią ilustrację nowych tendencji w projektowaniu architektonicznym XXI wieku i różnych reakcji na kontekst lokalny i globalny. Prezentowany materiał i wyniki badań są punktem wyjścia dla dalszych opracowań dotyczących szerszych współzależności sztuki i architektury.

Main aim of the article is an analysis of selected works by Chinese multidisciplinary artist – Ai Weiwei. The text presents a broad spectrum of architectural and artistic projects, it also shows similarities and differences between above-mentioned disciplines and focuses on different forms of collaborations between artists and architects. Presented realizations illustrate new tendentions and trends in architectural design of XXI century and different rections to local and global context. Presented material may be treated as a starting point to broader research concerning interactions between architecture and art.

Rich and diverse portfolio of works by Herzog & de Meuron is an unique example of a vast potential of combining contemporary art and architecture. Instead of basing on usual scheme of a work of art and its neutral background, described activities, rooted in Jacques Herzog’s artistic experiences, broaden standard definitions of both disciplines. Numerous a empts of collaboration between the architects and the artists (e.g. Rémy Zaugg, Thomas Ruff, Ai Weiwei, Olafur Eliasson and occasionaly even extended in a larger scale. Works by Herzog & de Meuron may be treated as a barometer of contemporary time – showing, interpreting, or even stimulating certaing architectural trends and tendencies.

Bogata i różnorodna twórczość pracowni Herzog & de Meuron jest unikalnym przykładem olbrzymiego potencjału łączenia współczesnej architektury i sztuki. Nie chodzi tu jednak o tradycyjny schemat dzieła i neutralnego tła. Działania zakorzenione w doświadczeniach artystycznych Jacques’a Herzoga dają efekty wykraczające poza standardowe rozumienie obu dziedzin. Liczne próby współpracy architektów z artystami (byli to m.in. Rémy Zaugg, Thomas Ruff, Ai Weiwei, Olafur Eliasson i Anish Kapoor) poszerzają granice sztuki i architektury, dając czasem prekursorskie rozwiązania, kontynuowane i rozwijane później w szerszej skali. Twórczość Herzoga i de Meurona można traktować jako swoisty barometr współczesności – ukazujący, interpretujący bądź wyprzedzający i stymulujący pewne trendy i tendencje w architekturze.

Prezentowany artykuł jest próbą przedstawienia wybranych alternatywnych sposobów zagospodarowania terenów miejskich z wykorzystaniem naturalnych elementów, tworzyw i zjawisk oraz korzyści płynące z tego typu działań. Natura może wzbogacać przestrzenie miast na wielu poziomach, od skali rozległych założeń urbanistycznych – parków rekreacyjnych, tematycznych, edukacyjnych, ogrodów botanicznych, po wypełnianie niezagospodarowanych miejsc lub rewitalizowanie zaniedbanych terenów, ingerencje typu urban farms na dachach, balkonach i ścianach budynków oraz elementy małej architektury, a nawet wnętrza. Prezentowany materiał i wyniki badań mogą być punktem wyjścia dla dalszych opracowań dotyczących projektowania w historycznej tkance urbanistycznej.

Presented article is an attempt to present selected alternative sollutions of a use of natural elements, resources or materials in urban and architectural design, and it shows benefities interlinked with such activities. Nature may enrich city spaces on different levels, from large urban plans or parks – recreational, educational and thematic – up to filling urban gaps, creating gardens and urban farms at roofs, balconies, walls etc. and within so called small architecture and interiors. The material can be a point of departure to further studies concerning architectural design in historical urban fabric.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie historii i szerszego kontekstu wyjątkowej realizacji architektonicznej – wielofunkcyjnego kompleksu Metropol Parasol (architekt: Jürgen Mayer H.) w hiszpańskiej Sewilli oraz jej wpływu na bliższe i dalsze otoczenie. Prezentowane założenie, umiejętnie łączące funkcje miastotwórcze z wysokiej jakości przestrzenią publiczną, stanowi ciekawą ilustrację nowych trendów w projektowaniu architektonicznym na początku XXI wieku (z uwzględnieniem architektury parametrycznej). Realizacja ta jest analizowana w kontekście lokalnym i globalnym, z nakreśleniem tła historycznego. Prezentowany materiał i wyniki badań mogą być punktem wyjścia dla dalszych opracowań dotyczących projektowania w historycznej tkance urbanistycznej.

The main goal of the article is a presentation of the history and broader context of a unique architectural realisation – the multifunctional complex of Metropol Parasol in Spanish Seville (architect: Jürgen Mayer H.) and its impact on the surrounding space. The presented case skilfully connects cityforming functions with high-quality public space, and it may be treated as a fine example of new architectural trends at the beginning of the 21st century (including parametric design). The realisation is analysed in a local, global, and historical context. The material can be a point of departure for further studies concerning architectural design in historical urban fabric.
