Introduction. Kidney cancer in the structure of registered cases was in 6th place in men and 8th in women. Aim. Understanding the molecular biology of renal cell carcinoma has made it possible to produce new diagnostic methods. Material and methods. This review was performed according to a systematic literature search. Results. Minimally invasive techniques seem to have a bright future in kidney cancer. However, they still require many clinical trials before they enter the general clinical use. Conclusion. Photodynamic therapy, thanks to research conducted in kidney cancer, will find application in cancer of other organs.
Introduction. Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is most often locate in the region of the stomach and the proximal part of the small intestine. Aim. The multiple histopathological examination is described. Description of the case. Multiple GISTs are rare neoplasms that originate from the interstitial cells are described. Conclussion. GIST can occur in any part of the gut, they are most common in the stomach and small intestine, and less frequent in the colorectum and esophagus. Although their pathogenesis and clinical manifestations are different, these tumor syndromes confer a high risk for developing multiple neoplasms.
Introduction. Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare and aggressive neuroendocrine skin cancer. Aim. Herein described is a case of hypertensive patient, after removal of Merkel cancer of the left gluteus skin (2011), after pulmonary embolism (2013), with degenerative changes of the spine and uterine myoma, chronically treated with Warfarin, because of suspected thyroid cancer. Description of the case. A 70-year-old woman case after removing Merkel cancer of the left buttock skin (2011), after pulmonary embolism (2013), with degenerative changes of the spine and uterine fibroids treated chronically with Warfarin because of suspected thyroid cancer is described. Conclusion. Increasing evidence of Merkel cell carcinoma with immunodeficiency and neoplasia, and the management and outcome of these patients requires study
In 2017 in the USA about 5% in men and 3% in women newly diagnosed cases of malignant tumors were kidney and renal pelvis cancer. Aim. Kidney cancer in adults includes malignant tumors derived from kidney parenchyma and renal pelvis. The dominating types are kidney parenchyma, and mainly renal cell carcinomas Material and methods. This review was performed according to systematic literature search of three major bibliographic databases (Scopus, PubMed, and Cochran). Results. Imaging studies play a very important role in kidney cancer. They allow one to assess the clinical stage, justify the extent of surgery and have an impact on the prognosis. Conclusion. The field for research involves the use of magnetic resonance and positron emission tomography in diagnosing kidney changes.
Introduction. Breast cancer is the second most prevalent reason for cancer deaths after lung cancer. Incidence rates have increased worldwide. Aim. To present epidemiology of breast cancer in Podkapackie voivodship. Material and methods. This analysis was performed using a systematic literature search. Results. In the Podkarpackie voivodship up until 2014, the incidence rate of female breast cancer was rising and in 2015 it dropped by 68 cases. Even though the survival rate is increasing, it is still one of the leading causes of cancer deaths placing second after lung cancer. Conclusion. Mortality rate, unfortunately, rose gradually. This shows that even though there is a National Health Program aiming at breast cancer awareness and prevention, it is still not enough to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths.
