Like Romain Rolland, Brzozowski is convinced that any application of scientific methods in ethics leads inevitably to an approval of a principle according to which the ends justify the means, i.e., to moral relativism. However, in social and political life one should not neglect moral values, if we do not want to foredoom our society to unavoidable failure. Both thinkers emphasize the necessity of defending moral values while establishing a new social order.
