The subject of the description are meanings of the lexeme earth and phrases with this lexeme, noted by dictionaries. The reconstruction of the language picture of earth, based on linguistic facts, shows how people imagine the world surrounding them. The concept of earth takes an important part in Russian cognitive zone. The variety of language means, verbalized the concept of earth, shows how important it is to Russian mentality.
This article focuses on idioms and proverbs that represent the concept of the wind. The language units (both idioms and proverbs), used in language studies of the picture of the world, extend the perspective of new contexts. The research has shown, that many of the analysed exeplifications have an anthropocentric character, and refer to the human qualities as appearance and the psyche, character traits, behaviors and activities. A significant group of units named by the wind refer to atmospheric phenomena. The analysed idioms and proverbs are characterized by a fairly large synonymy.
The purpose of this article is an analysis of the word-formation root with funding noun "Earth" in Russian language. The group of derivatives, created from the lexeme "Earth", is quite numerous (129 words). To create them were used different ways of word formation, such as, suffixation, prefixation, combined suffixation and prefixation, compounding and substantive usage of the adjective. Listed derivative models differ in productivity. One of the most productive way of word formation is suffixation and compounding, while the other ways of derivation are characterized by lower productivity.
