Article describes and structures in systematic manner how information technology supporting purchasing organizations was changing over the recent years and how this changes influenced business processes. The changes have been presented in tabular layout based on three dimensions: centralization, operational excellence, and control. Using presented in article relations between information technology maturity and operational maturity of purchasing departments author constructs draft purchasing organizations maturity assessment based on information technologies analysis.

W artykule w sposób systematycznych przedstawione zostało to w jaki sposób technologie informatyczne wspierające procesy zakupowe zmieniały się na przestrzeni lat, oraz jak wpływało to na kształt procesów biznesowych. Zmiany te przedstawione zostały w postaci tabelarycznej na przykładzie trzech wymiarów: centralizacji, doskonałości operacyjnej oraz kontroli. Wykorzystując opisane w artykule relację między dojrzałością struktury informatycznej, a dojrzałością operacyjną działów zakupów, autor przedstawia zarys metodologii oceny dojrzałości operacyjnej funkcji zakupów na podstawie analizy wykorzystywanych technologii informacyjnych.
