The author draws readers’ attention to the recurring interest of theoretical reflection in the category of time caused by the transformations taking place in the contemporary cul- ture. Present-day progress of civilization and fascination with speed, novelty and trans- formation caused that a contemporary man perceives time differently than in the past- lo- sing the sense of continuity.The author is particularly fascinated with the time viewed from the stylistic perspec- tive. She emphasises the fact that present-day stylistics is interested in the means of con- ceptualization of time in language and the texts of various cultures (and the perception, impression and valorisation of time). The stylistic description concentrates on the subjective experiencing of the passage of time. In the genre characterization of the utterance, time can also play the role of the typological criterion.The second important trend is the research on the time as a factor causing the transfor- mations in the communicative sphere and the stylistic Polish language from the evolutionary perspective.
