The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the types of clouds and cloud technologies; the use of cloud services in the educational process, in particular, in the organization of students' independent work. The authors analyze the latest research in the field of cloud services. A comparative analysis of the most famous and most frequently used cloud services for data storage is carried out.  The tools and services of Microsoft and Google used in educational work are demonstrated. The advantages and disadvantages of using modern cloud services are identified.
