Government interventionism in agriculture demands strict coordination of rural policy with customs policy. The relation between these two policies aimed at realizing this kind of interventionism finds expression in co-shaping of economic conditions for agricultural production, prices (rural ones and food retail prices), incomes (especially farmers' incomes but through prices of other population groups), labour cost, consumption structure. Fitting suitable government interventionism instruments is in majority dependent upon external conditions resulting from many-sided customs-trade system, GATT/WTO.
