The article presents foreign publications regarding library management, which have been reviewed in journals addressed to the librarian community in the years 1918–1939. Deepening our understanding of the past can thus help us discover practices and trends in library management that came to fruition in what would be the future for their original creators.

W artykule przedstawiono publikacje zagraniczne podejmujące tematykę zarządzania bibliotekami, które zostały zrecenzowane w polskich czasopismach skierowanych do środowiska bibliotekarzy w latach 1918–1939. Analiza literatury tego okresu pozwala lepiej zrozumieć tradycje oraz współczesne praktyki i trendy w zarządzaniu bibliotekami.

The article describes the activities of selected library associations in library marketing promotion. This includes the presentation of International Federation of Library Associations, American Library Association and Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. A particular attention is devoted to competitions whose purpose is to reward these libraries which have implemented creative, results-oriented marketing projects or campaigns.

W artykule przedstawiono działania wybranych organizacji bibliotekarskich na rzecz marketingu bibliotecznego. W tym celu zaprezentowano International Federation of Library Associations, American Library Association i Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono konkursom, których celem jest nagradzanie bibliotek realizujących ciekawe kampanie marketingowe.

The article aims to identify the factors affecting librarians’ job satisfaction. The article presents foreign literature devoted to research into job satisfaction based on the 'Analytical Bibliography of Library and Information Science'. The second part presents Polish professional literature in this field as well as Polish libraries’ initiatives in this area, e. g. research projects launched at the Warsaw University Library and the Library of the Pedagogical University in Krakow.
