The article provides an assessment of the banking supervision system in Poland and it is aimed at presenting main targets of that system. Objectives, means, the scope and organization structure of banking supervision are presented. Besides, solutions resulting from the fuctioning of the Polish banking system within the international environment as well as from the fact of Poland's membership of the EU (e.g. The New Capital Contract). The article also deals with the problem of integrated financial supervision.
