Artykuł prezentuje stan badań na temat jednego ze składników zasobów niematerialnych bibliotek – kapitału ludzkiego. Zgodnie ze współczesnymi teoriami kapitał ludzki postrzegany jest jako źródło korzyści dla biblioteki. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na różne formy rozwijania i doskonalenia umiejętności osobistych i zawodowych, scharakteryzowano przykładowe ścieżki zawodowe bibliotekarzy i zaproponowano zagadnienia powiązane z pojęciem kapitału ludzkiego w bibliotekach warte uwagi polskich bibliotekoznawców, praktyków i teoretyków.

This article describes the current state of research on one of the intangible resources in the modern library - human capital. According to contemporary theories, human capital is an invaluable resource for the library. The article draws attention to different forms of librarian staff personal and professional development, presents sample career paths for librarians, and seeks to highlight the potential for further research in the field of human capital in libraries, to be considered by Polish librarians, practitioners and theoreticians.

Ponadto zwrócono uwagę na zagadnienia związane z ochroną zbiorów bibliotecznych w przypadku klęsk żywiołowych.

The aim of this paper is to describe educational activities held at the University of Florence Library and at the National Library of Florence. The author draws attention to the special collections of old books and ways the information about them is spread out as well as the issues concerning the protection of rare books in case of natural disasters.

W zbiorach Biblioteki Głównej Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego (BG UP) znajduje się kilka cennych kolekcji specjalnych, wśród których wyróżniają się spuścizny pracowników nauki. Z uwagi na ich specyficzny – archiwalny – charakter stanowią wyzwanie dla biblioteki w zakresie ich opracowania, przechowywania i udostępniania. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zasygnalizowane obecności tych cennych zasobów w zbiorach BG UP poprzez krótkie ich opisanie oraz zwrócenie uwagi na tkwiący w nich potencjał badawczy. W artykule wspomniano przechowywane w magazynach BG UP spuścizny: po astronomie dr. Lucjanie Orkiszu, po matematyczce, profesor Zofii Krygowskiej oraz opisano dwa zespoły archiwaliów związanych z pracownikami uczelni, rektorem WSP w latach 1956-1971 - profesorem Wincentym Dankiem i profesor Mieczysławą Romankówną. Scharakteryzowano ponadto spuściznę profesora Tadeusza Banachiewicza włączoną do zbiorów BG UP za sprawą profesora Jerzego M. Kreinera, którego zainteresowania badawcze obracają się m. in. wokół działalności zawodowej i życia słynnego astronoma – twórcy krakowianów.

Among its’ unique collections, the Main Library of the Pedagogical University of Cracow (MLPU) holds legacies of former faculty members and academic staff and researchers. Due to the specific nature of much of this material - mostly archive documents - cataloging, storing and allowing access to it presents a challenge for the library. The main aim of this article is to make the wider public - and researchers in particular - aware that the library holds such collections. To illustrate this, the article provides a brief description of three individual collections: the legacy of a former dean (1956-1971) of the Pedagogical University, Professor Wincenty Danek, as well as a legacy from another of the University's Professors, Mieczysława Romankówna, and also a collection of materials acquired by the University at the behest of Professor Jerzy M. Kreiner belonging or relating to the celebrated astronomer and professor of the Jagiellonian University, Tadeusz Banachiewicz. The article also makes mention of two other collections stored, but not yet indexed in the card catalogue, which both belonged to researchers associated to the Pedagogical University, Lucjan Orkisz (doctor, astronomer), and Zofia Krygowska (professor, mathematician).

Interlibrarian Borrowings (IB) is one of the basic services allowing readers access to specialist literature inaccessible locally. In order to examine the condition of the IB in Poland in July and August 2016 there was a pilot survey conducted among 128 libraries cooperating with the Pedagogical University Main Library throughout two academic years 2014/2015- 2015/2016. The survey consisted of 17 questions. The statistics available on the interaktywnie. com website, where the survey was located, noted 95 "unique views" of the form. The surveys were filled in by 50 respondents. As results from the responses, the most important problems of the IB in Poland are non-uniform regulations, different level of using modern technologies in the realization of interlibrary orders and lack of a national system of interlibrary borrowings. The attempt to create such a system based on the NUKAT catalogue has not yet been realized. The Academica, working since 2014, did not revolutionize the system in Poland due to its numerous limitations. The survey results indicate that there is a need for action leading to integrating the librarian society dealing with IB.

Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie organizowania wystaw przez biblioteki akademickie. Przeglądowi literatury krajowej i zagranicznej na ten temat towarzyszy opis ekspozycji przygotowanej przez Bibliotekę Główną Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego we współpracy z Krakowskim Biurem Festiwalowym pod tytułem „Literacki Kraków”. Scharakteryzowano elementy wystawy, które spełniały funkcję edukacyjną. Zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie wystaw w promocji bibliotek i upowszechnianiu informacji o zbiorach. Zasygnalizowano potrzebę podjęcia badań na temat działalności wystawienniczej bibliotek.

Exhibitions organised by university libraries are the primary subject of this article. A brief look at existing Polish and non-Polish literature on the topic is accompanied by a description of the exhibition entitled “Literary Cracow” organised by the Main Library of the Pedagogical University of Cracow in cooperation with the Krakow Festival Office. Educational elements of the exhibition are highlighted, and attention is drawn to the role of exhibitions in promoting libraries and raising awareness of their collections. The need to undertake further research on the exhibition activities of libraries is indicated.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest odwrócenie perspektywy i wskazanie zysków, jakie przynosi bibliotekom uniwersyteckim organizacja takich szkoleń. Na przykładzie Tygodnia Mobilności dla bibliotekarzy przygotowanego w ramach programu Erasmus przez bibliotekę Aix-Marseille Université w czerwcu 2019 r. omówione zostaną jego edukacyjne oraz marketingowe elementy. Zwrócona zostanie uwaga na możliwość wykorzystywania organizacji staży typu Staff Training Week do kreowania pozytywnego wizerunku bibliotek na forum międzynarodowym.

In their reports, participants in the Erasmus scheme often describe the benefits of taking part in such organised training weeks or individual training. This paper aims to discuss the advantages and opportunities presented to the organising institutions by hosting such events within the Erasmus programme. On the example of the inaugural staff mobility training week for librarians hosted by Aix-Marseille Université in June 2019, the promotional and educational aspects of its' programme will be examined. Emphasis will be put on how libraries can use this opportunity to help create a positive image at an international level.

Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na rolę kontaktów z zagranicznymi instytucjami w procesie podnoszenia usług i budowania wizerunku biblioteki akademickiej. Doświadczenia Biblioteki Głównej Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie wykazują pozytywny wpływ udziału w programie Erasmus na aktywność zawodową (zwiększona liczba zagranicznych transakcji międzybibliotecznych) i naukową (sprawozdania i artykuły, referaty podczas konferencji, seminaria) bibliotekarzy. W artykule omówiona została współpraca Biblioteki Głównej UP z instytucjami zagranicznymi w latach 2010-2016 prowadzona w ramach programu Erasmus i wypożyczeń międzybibliotecznych. Dane statystyczne ilustrują intensywność kontaktów Erasmusowych i międzybibliotecznych. Na podstawie doświadczeń pracownika Biblioteki Głównej UP uczestniczącego w inicjatywie International Librarians Network opisano również formy bibliotecznego networkingu.

The aim of the article is to draw attention to the role of contacts with foreign institutions in the process of improving services and building the image of an academic library. Experiences of the Main Library of the Pedagogical University in Cracow show a positive influence of participation in the Erasmus programme on the professional activity (increased number of foreign interlibrary transactions) and scientific studies (reports and articles, conference papers, seminars) of librarians. The article discusses the cooperation of the PU Main Library with foreign institutions in the years 2010-2016, conducted within the framework of the Erasmus programme and Interlibrary Loan. Statistical data illustrate the intensity of Erasmus and interlibrary contacts. Also, based on the experience of a Main Library employee participating in the International Librarians Network, library networking forms are described.
