Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Warmia is the oldest diocese in the north-eastern Polish. Can boast of many works in the field of pastoral, organizational and material. In the eighties of the twentieth century initiative of major importance not only was the creation of pastoral journal – „Posłaniec Warmiński”. This letter has played a key role in society, not only in the period of Solidarity but until 2010. The well informed about the life of the universal Church and the Archdiocese of Warmia, including its many pastoral initiatives.

Diocese of Elbląg is one of the few newly established in 1992 dioceses in Poland, where immediately after its establishment began to issued their own authority newspaper − „Community. To be one!”. Magazine appeared to until 2002. This letter played a key role in informing about the life of the Diocese of Elblag, including its many pastoral initiatives. The article presents, among others, genesis, editors, publisher, publishing formula, layout and typographic journal.

Sejny is situated in the north-east part of Poland, in the diocese Elk. Here among others a parish is located near a sanctuary of NMP hitting and the registered office of the Sejny deanery. It is a city of the borderland, cultures and nations. „Bishop Czeslaw Rydzewski’s Visitations from July 1947” is a first bishop’s report about personal and material state of the parishes in Suwalki and Sejny Regions, the report which was made after the Second World War. The value of these proceedings is important inasmuch as they testify the most important events and affairs of the local churches not only of the occupation years, but also of the first postwar years. Because of lacking other sources they are the basic material that enables to investigate the history of particular parishes and churches. The original of the visitations is held in the Elk Diocese Archive in Elk.

The article presents the question of the celebration of the funeral of Marshal Pilsudski in the diocese of Lomża in May 1935, which took place in the context of the internment of Bishop Stanislaw Łukomski by the administrative authorities and the state. Next to shift the course of events in the article was also outline the background to the conflict, as well as answers to questions about how the incident occurred, who was his main inspiration and organizer of why the celebration of the funeral of Marshal Pilsudski in the diocese of Lomża turned into a political and an anti-Church and then ended the whole thing.

The article is the question of the relation of the Church Lomza political parties during the Second Republic. It found that the sympathies of the Diocese of Lomza deposited on the side of the Catholic-national groups. Norma was also that none of the party software struggling with the Church and religion, or not recognizing the principles and norms of Catholic could not count on Catholics. The latter groups were included mainly PSL “Liberation”, PPS and Communist parties. Emphasized the fact that the political options of Catholics should be consistent with the value system of the Gospel. This applies to the fact that Catholics supported the forces and political movements which, in relation to the basic ethical took a position contrary to the moral and social teaching of the Church.

The article presents the attitude of the priests in the region of Suwalki against communist ideology in times of the development of the socialist state. The whole range of operational activities taken by the Communists against the clergy was presented both on the level of local administration and district and provincial police. Frequently included quotations from priests, written by snitches are the testimony of the attitudes of the clergy. They constituted kind of political guideline for the parishioners, but also a reminder of principals of faith. Today, after years looking from the perspective of regained freedom this intransigence and inflexibility of the clergy in those dark times, inspires respect and recognition.

The article presents first arrests of priests in Łomża region in the year 1939, drawing on unpublished memoirs of Felician Franciscan sisters who were witnesses to Father Stanisław Maciątek being arrested in Wiżajny. An attempt is made to present the background of the ethnic conflict in Wiżajny region and the role of the pastors of the Evangelical church. It is pointed out how dislike and hatred can spiral out of control causing much tragedy.
