The article’s research subject is a little-known jubilee play of Max Halbe ‘Throughout Centuries’ which was written by the author, who comes from the West Prussia, in 1937 on the occasion of celebration of the 700th anniversary of the town of Elbląg. The analysis includes such issues as: an active participation of Stadttheater from Elbląg in the preparation of anniversary celebration, a genesis of creation of the Halbe’s drama, numerous references to Elbląg’s history included in the play, intertextual elements and propaganda dimension of the play.

Jubileuszowa sztuka Maxa Halbego z okazji 700‑lecia Elbląga Przedmiotem badań podjętych w artykule jest mało znana jubileuszowa sztuka Maxa Halbego „Poprzez stulecia”, którą pochodzący z Prus Zachodnich autor napisał w 1937 roku z okazji 700-lecia miasta Elbląga. W polu analiz znajdują się takie zagadnienia, jak: aktywny udział elbląskiego Stadttheater w przygotowaniach rocznicowych obchodów, geneza powstania dramatu Halbego, zawarte w sztuce liczne odniesienia do historii Elbląga, elementy intertekstualne oraz wymiar propagandowy sztuki.

The aim of this article is to analyse the stage adaptation of Elfriede Jelinek’s theatre text Angabe der Person, directed by Jossi Wieler in 2022 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. An important research problem addressed in the article is the genre classification of Jelinek’s text. The article outlines the text’s origins and Jelinek’s artistic cooperation with the director Jossi Wieler. The study focuses on Jelinek’s reflections on death and historical reckonings with the German state. The latter were strongly verbalized in what could be called an “indictment” against the von Schirach family, who was involved in the criminal system of the Third Reich. An important point in this discussion is Jelinek’s polemic with the attitude represented by the writer Ferdinand von Schirach, who denied his own sense of guilt for the criminal activity of his grandfather, Baldur von Schirach, during the Third Reich.
