Recent years in Poland have been characterized by the dynamic development of scientific activity among nurses. It might have been caused by several factors, namely: the rising needs and expectations of representatives of this professional group, the necessity of adjusting to EU standards, changes in the system of education, as well as the individual “research needs” of those representatives. However, is there a correlation between the increase in the quantity of scientific research and its quality? An attempt to answer that question led the author to formulate this paper’s goal, which had been formulated as follows: to analyse different sources of information concerning the reality of scientific research in nursing in Poland.

The aim of the study has been to investigate selected factors determining the professional satisfaction of Polish nurses. The examined group consisted of 1066 professionally active Polish nurses. The study was conducted with the use of diagnostic survey method, where a standardized questionnaire survey was used as the main tool. The group of factors classified as elements of employee evaluation systems, penalties and wages is the fourth among five groups of factors determining the professional satisfaction of Polish nurses, as included in the occupational satisfaction model adopted in the study. Respondents think that the most influential factor in this group is “remuneration”. It also ranks third, in the opinion of the respondents, among all the elements included in the model. The results show that in the group of Polish nurses, the factors that are characterized as actual motivators significantly influence the level of job satisfaction. Therefore, they should be used in daily management practice in nursing teams, especially in the process of skilful motivation and employee engagement.

Celem pracy było zbadanie wybranych czynników warunkujących satysfakcję zawodową polskich pielęgniarek/- rzy. Badaną grupę stanowiły czynne zawodowo polskie pielęgniarki/-rze, w liczbie 1066 osób. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, w którym za narzędzie posłużył standaryzowany kwestionariusz ankiety. Grupa czynników sklasyfikowana w obszarze: elementy oceny pracowniczej, kar i wynagrodzeń, to czwarta w kolejności spośród 5 grup czynników warunkujących satysfakcję zawodową polskich pielęgniarek/-rzy, ujętych w przyjętym w badaniu modelu satysfakcji zawodowej.
