W pracy przedstawiono problem kapitału i jego struktury, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kapitałów obcych i ich znaczenia dla rozwoju i funkcjonowania jednostki gospodarczej. Opisano podstawowe wskaźniki oceny zadłużenia, stosowane w teorii i praktyce wraz z ich wartością informacyjną. Na podstawie zebranych danych przeprowadzono analizę zadłużenia spółek kapitałowych w Polsce w latach 2008-2011, odnosząc je do pierwszej fali ogólnoświatowego kryzysu gospodarczego, z którym mamy obecnie do czynienia.

The paper presents the problem of the capital and its structure, with particular emphasis placed on foreign capitals and their importance for the development and operations of enterprises. It describes the basic indicators of debt used in the theory and practice with their informative value. Based on the collected data, the author analyses the debt of companies in Poland in the years 2008-2011, referring them to the first wave of the global economic crisis with which we are now dealing.
