Industrial policy is one of the issues to which both economic theory and economic policy devote much attention. The industrial sector is adriving force for economic growth. The article pointed out the difficulty of reconciling different logic of industrial policy and competition policy. It also noted the great efforts made by EU institutions to preserve acompromise between the instruments of competition policy and industrial policy. The progress in achieving the objectives of both policies at the same time is, however, unsatisfactory.
