The article refers to the scope of tasks which, currently, have been given to the Polish authorities of decentralized administration with regard to the police operations. The preliminary issues on the mentioned above subject have been explained in the first art of the article. Next, the connections between the local authority and the police have been discussed from a historical point of view. The second part of the article deals with the description of the current legal norms defining the local authorities tasks towards the police. The author’s final conclusions on the issues presented in the article constitute its last part.
