Geopolityczne aspekty potencjalnej eksploatacji helu-3 z księżycowego regolitu

The purpose of this article is to explain the impact of the possible use of helium-3 (³He) in advanced nuclear technologies on global energy security and the geopolitical balance of power. Helium-3 is an isotope with unique physical properties that is a potential fuel for safe and highly efficient next-generation thermonuclear reactors. The article discusses both the possibilities of its extraction-with particular emphasis on the exploitation of lunar regolith-and the technical and economic challenges associated with its use. It also analyzes the dynamic geopolitical context of the race between countries for access to helium-3 resources in space, pointing to the risk of escalating international tensions and the inadequacy of the current space law framework. It was demonstrated that the development of helium-3-based technologies may not only contribute to the transformation of the energy system, but also become one of the key factors shaping future international relations.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest wyjaśnienie wpływu możliwego zastosowania helu-3 (³He) w zaawansowanych technologiach jądrowych na globalne bezpieczeństwo energetyczne oraz układ sił geopolitycznych. Hel-3 to izotop o unikalnych właściwościach fizycznych, który stanowi potencjalne paliwo dla bezpiecznych i wysokoefektywnych reaktorów termojądrowych nowej generacji. W artykule omówiono zarówno możliwości jego pozyskiwania - ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem eksploatacji księżycowego regolitu - jak i techniczne oraz ekonomiczne wyzwania związane z jego wykorzystaniem. Przeanalizowano również dynamiczny kontekst geopolityczny związany z wyścigiem państw o dostęp do zasobów helu-3 w przestrzeni kosmicznej, wskazując na ryzyko eskalacji napięć międzynarodowych oraz niedostosowanie obecnych ram prawa kosmicznego. Wykazano, że rozwój technologii opartych na helu-3 może nie tylko przyczynić się do transformacji systemu energetycznego, lecz także stać się jednym z kluczowych czynników kształtujących przyszłe relacje międzynarodowe.
