Creating conditions for construction of extensive personal knowledge and mental acquaintance with the public knowledge should be the primary aim of teaching mathematics. To assist pupils in their comprehension of mathematics means to give a chance of independent choice of strategies of actions, of implementing into the educational process a number of diversified cognitive processes, in accordance to assumptions of cognitive psychology's findings. Viewing the current state of maths teaching, characterised by low activity on the part of pupils and providing them with scholastic knowledge, as unsatisfactory, the author planned and conducted action research. Its aim was to introduce a change towards enhancement of learning in the context of Polish schools. The author's search for effective ways of supporting pupils in their construction of knowledge is based on an application derived from England of the Maths on display strategy as a way of organising and holding a lesson, the primary aim of which is generation of stimulating and interesting instructional aids. The study has confirmed rich educational potential of the strategy of mathematical presentations.
