Digitalizacja archiwalnych zasobów telewizyjnych jest zjawiskiem stosunkowo nowym, biorąc pod uwagę historię istnienia telewizji jako nowego środka przekazu. Jest to jednak przedsięwzięcie kluczowe, jeśli telewizyjne materiały mają przetrwać dla przyszłych pokoleń. Realizowane od 1929 r. na świecie, a od 1952 r. w Polsce programy są nie tylko zapisem historii telewizji, ale przede wszystkim dokumentacją mijających czasów. Trwałość archiwalnym filmom zapisanym na różnorodnych nośnikach gwarantuje jedynie proces digitalizacji. W artykule pokazano podstawowe problemy dotyczące digitalizacji zasobów archiwalnych TVP oraz jak proces digitalizacji przebiega w archiwum Telewizji Katowice. To pionierski w kraju ośrodek, w którym digitalizację zbiorów prowadziły pod okiem specjalistów osoby niepełnosprawne. Dzięki ich pracy udało się ocalić i zachować tysiące metrów archiwalnych taśm filmowych i wizyjnych, zawierających unikatowe materiały dotyczące historii, kultury i dziedzictwa narodowego Śląska i Zagłębia.

The digitization of archival resources of television is a relatively new phenomenon, taking into account the history of the existence of television as a new medium. But it is a crucial venture if the films made since the inception of the new media are to survive for future generations. Implemented since 1929 in the world and since 1952 in Poland TV footage is not only a record of the history of television, but above all the documentation of the passing of time. Persistence film archives stored on various media, only guarantees digitization process. The article shows how to proceed digitization of archive collections Television Katowice – a pioneering center in the country in which this process involved people with disabilities. Their efforts managed to save thousands of meters of film tapes containing unique materials on the history, culture and national heritage of Silesia region.
