The article focuses on the discourse of philosophical essay. We do it by searching the eighteenth-century concept of the aesthetic idea for the solutions to the dispute about the meaning of its aesthetic layer, by nature referring to the sensory experience, and therefore not fitting the typical, based on the concepts, scientific reasoning. Contrary to the theory of Th.W. Adorno we try to justify the thesis that there is a place for the essay in a systematic way of thinking.

Das Thema dieses Artikels ist der Diskurs im philosophischen Essay. Die Konzeption der ästhetischen Idee, wie sie das achtzehnte Jahrhundert entwickelt hatte, erscheint hier als ein wichtiger Beitrag in der Debatte um die ästhetische (also ihrer Natur nach sinnliche) Komponente des Essays, die üblicherweise als dem diskursiven wissenschaftlichen Denken fremd gedeutet wird. Anders als Th. W. Adorno rechtfertigen wir den Essay innerhalb des systematischen Denkens.
