Współczesna rodzina nie gwarantuje dzieciom poczucia bezpieczeństwa. Występują w niej czynniki wyzwalające zachowania przemocowe, głownie wobec kobiet i dzieci. Szczególnie narażone na przemoc są dzieci niepełnosprawne. W ostatnich latach buduje się w wielu krajach europejskich systemy ochrony dzieci przed krzywdzeniem poprzez wspieranie rodziny. Aby systemy te stały się efektywne, konieczne jest współdziałanie rodziny i szkoły w zakresie profilaktyki krzywdzenia dzieci, szczególnie dzieci niepełnosprawnych.

Contemporary family does not ensure children the feeling of security. There are some factors which trigger aggresive behaviour mainly towards women and children. Handiccaped children are especially exposed to violence. Some systems for protecting children against harming by supporting family have been created in many European countries recently. Co – operation of family and school within the range of prophylaxis of harming children, especially the handicapped ones, is necessary to make these systems effective.
