She lists initiatives aimed at popularising Polish culture undertaken by such institutions as the Polish Institute or the Free University in Brussels. She also discusses the characteristics of Polish Studies in Belgium and students’ interests in various issues, such as censorship.
This article is devoted to the use of the aesthetic of marionettes in twentieth-century theatre in Poland, French-speaking Belgium and France. Starting with the treatment of marionettes in Maurice Maeterlinck’s play Interior, the analysis of plays shows the function of the marionettisation of characters and how puppets inspire authors, on different levels, in the representation of metaphysical, political or social issues.
This article examines Anna Hop’s 2015 ballet, based upon Witold Gombrowicz’s novel Ferdydurke, created at the National Polish Ballet, analysing the interaction between the choreography and literary language to demonstrate the choreographic specificity of Hop’s treatment of Gombrowicz’s text.
