The article analyzes the participation of young industrial workers in cultural activities organized within a work establishment. Tńis participation in the company's cultural life was analyzed in its institutional and quantitative dimensions. The author was trying to determine the degree and scope of respondents participation in this type of activities, its forms and kinds. Along with description of their participation in cultural events and work of cultural institutions, attempts were made at obtaining information about their participation in organization and promotion of cultural and educational activities in the work establishment, and thus participating not only in the area of reception of created and transferred contents. The author was also interested in determining the knowledge of his respondents about contents and organization of “cultural life" in the work establishment, and “degree of the interest taken by them" in this form of activities. Of an equally great interest was to define the social location of revealed differences in behavioural attitudes of this kind, and to examine their objective and social determinants. Simultaneously the author was trying to determine to what degree and to what extent this specific type of contacts with culture as offered by an industrial company to its employees is revealed in practice in the cultural experience of the respondents. It was also equally important to determine to what extent the functions of this quite specific cultural system are subject to specialization, and which of these functions play a predominant role, which of them are becoming gradually reduced, and which completely disappear.
