The article is devoted to the participation of teachers and their professional organisation — Polish Teachers’ Union — in the 1938 parliamentary elections in the Province of Lublin. The author examines the attitude of the profession and the Union to the elections, teachers’ work in electoral commissions, attempts to get their own representatives into the upper and lower house, and to prevent the authorities from violating the election law. Despite the involvement of some teachers in the election campaign, their election results were not very impressive.
The article is based on the archive documents from Ukrainian and Polish archives. Presented are the main directions of the election campaign of the Camp of National Unity (CNU) in parliamentary elections in Lwow. The close co-operation and support by authorities for the CNU and its candidates, as well as competition between the candidates of the CNU are shown.
