Although Le Sari Vert is presented as a masculine monologue, it is none the less a plea in favour of women, an illustration of ill-treatment in the name of virility in a context which cannot be simply limited to society in Mauritius.In the course of this study, starting with the problematic centred on the monstrosity in its manifestations and its psychological limits, we will examine the elements specifically pertaining to the culture and the society of Mauritius, to its Indian heritage in the conception of women, to the influence of a hierarchical religion as well as the linguistic elements typical of Ananda Devi which give to the work a dimension opening onto the Western World in order to serve a cause which is sadly universal.

Bien que Le Sari vert se présente comme un monologue masculin, il n’en est pas moins un plaidoyer pour les femmes, une illustration de la maltraitance au nom de la virilité dans un contexte que l’on ne peut circonscrire uniquement dans la société mauricienne. Dans le projet de cette étude, à partir de la problématique centrée sur la monstruosité dans ses manifestations et ses paramètres psychologiques, seront examinées les composantes relevant spécifiquement de la culture et de la société mauricienne, de son héritage indien dans la conception du féminin, de l’influence d’une religion hiérarchisée ainsi que les éléments linguistiques en usage chez Ananda Devi qui leur octroient une dimension ouverte sur l’Occident au service d’une cause tristement universelle.
