Proměny čtenářství v procesu remediace

EN
This article considers the transformation of reading, which has taken place as a result of the spread of the digital media, particularly the World Wide Web. Reading has assumed a completely different attitude towards writing, which, influenced by the interactive nature of the new media, has been put on a stronger basis. The article traces the transformation of the prerequisites of reading both using texts which employ the potential of digital media for literary experiments and the Web publication platforms, which see the Internet as a radically democratic medium for the publication of texts. In addition to these fundamental differences, both activities share three consequences in the transformation of reading: the boundary between reading and writing is being blurred; the placement of the text into a space modelled on the principles of Web design is changing the technological conditions of reading it; the advent of a new way of contextualizing a digital text placed on the Web and linked by hypertext with an almost infinite quantity of other texts (the author proposes the term virtual codex).

Mladá spirituální poezie devadesátých let

This article attempts to describe the internal differentiation and development of new spiritual verse of the 1990s. Selecting from a vast amount of material, it analyzes and interprets works by Martin J. Stöhr (b. 1970), Miloš Doležal (b. 1970), Pavel Kolmačka (b. 1962), Pavel Petr (b. 1969), Petr Čichoň (b. 1969), and Tomáš Reichl (b. 1969). The first three of these authors are presented are as examples of the natural, rustic spiritual verse that was highly productive in the 1990s. This type of lyric verse is characteristic of a special traditionalism, rooted in the rural stylization of the persona and in the classic form of the stanza. The second type, called ‘gestic’ here, is characterized by a strong manifestation of the creative act itself, the locating of fictional worlds further away from the present world, and numerous stylistic references to Decadent verse.

The paper verifies the adequacy of the existing methodological tools of literary studies applied to serialized narration on the basis of fairly extensive research into Czech material (particularly presented in the collection of papers entitled Povídka, román a periodický tisk v 19. a 20. století – The Short Story, Novel and Periodical Press in the 19th and 20th century, 2005) and judges their applicability to narratives modelled by the specific situation of the serialized digital publication.

Remediace literární lexikografie

100%
EN
Since the end of the 1990s literary lexicography has been undergoing a transformation brought on by the advent of the new digital media, in particular the Internet. The author argues that a fundamental shift has taken place particularly in the role played by the choice of headwords in the construction of a lexicographical work. The digital dictionary is not made ‘from the top down’ by filling in a pre-determined framework. Rather, it is an open, gradually growing structure, whose coordinates are previously unknown to the authors of the dictionary. Another completely new aspect is the position of the user of the digital dictionary, who is offered a number of choices by the interactive interface, which are impossible with a paper dictionary. The user thus becomes the co ‑author of the final organization of the dictionary. The transformation of literary lexicography is part of the cultural process of remediation, which entails a change in the symbolic forms of the expression of culture. The database, not the narrative, is now the fundamental form. An internet dictionary may therefore also be perceived as an alternative to the traditional narrative of literary history.

Podejście do zjawisk literackich jest w dużej mierze związane z refleksją nad złym stanem współczesnej krytyki literackiej i nowych, wirtualnych form oceniania literatury.

This study examines the changes within Czech literary culture since 2000 in relation to the process of remediation. The starting methodological point is in examining a structure of a literary system within a model proposed by Siegfried J. Schmidt. The impact of new creative approaches which utilise interactive network media and also of available publishing platforms are observed in terms of the increase in the size of the literary active group of the population. The study further investigates publishing options via the Internet used mainly by amateur authors, complementary phenomena in print production, as well as the impact of these innovative forms on the dynamics of the book market. The ways in which texts are received are examined particularly from the point of enhancing the role of the reader within interactive media and attention is paid to the qualitative changes within the reception frameworks (transnational and non-literary contexts). And finally, the ways in which literary phenomena are handled is largely related to the reflection of the critical state of the current literary criticism and new virtual formats of critiquing literature. The study shows that the evolutionary changes which were brought about by extending the use of digital media within literary communication have been so extensive that the Schmidt model of analysis has proven insufficient.

Tvořivost literatury v éře umělé inteligence

EN
This study deals with the issues surrounding literature generated by artificial intelligence or artificial neuron networks. The authors first critically analyse the results of these generative projects, including Czech and Slovak ones, comparing poetry and prose text generating projects. The fact that many of the texts generated in this way are practically indistinguishable from those written by humans is understood as a challenge to reassess existing theoretical approaches to the process of generating a literary text and the overall modelling of the literary system. In these contexts the literary system appears to be an autonomous structure that does not need any external input to produce texts, but makes do with its own text material and its transformational recombination.
