The study represents a fragment of a comprehensive description of diminutives and diminutivity in the linguistic world of Lviv, carried out against the background of a holistic study of its lexical wealth. During the analysis of this important component of the linguistic nature of Lviv, attention was focused on a wide range of tasks: identification of the repertoire of diminutives, attestation in thematic groups, part-linguistic affiliation, determination of their status, genesis, semantic structure, word-forming formants, specifics of functioning, etc. The article highlights the special role of the Polish language in establishing diminutives , and clarifies the reasons for the active functioning of diminutives in Lviv society. It is indicated that the variety of modifying diminutive structures in the speech of Lviv residents indicates the high productivity of diminutive modelling.The article proves that diminutivity and diminutives are a treasury of the cultural memory of Lviv, a representative of Lviv residents’ ideas about the world, an important component of their dialectal picture of the world, and one of the important markers of Lviv identity.

Artykuł stanowi fragment kompleksowego opisu deminutywów i deminutywności w językowym świecie Lwowa, przeprowadzonego na tle całościowych badań nad bogactwem leksykalnym miasta. Podczas analizy tego ważnego składnika językowego charakteru Lwowa uwaga skupiona została na szerokim spektrum zadań: wskazaniu repertuaru deminutywów, poświadczeniu ich przynależności do grup tematycznych oraz do kategorii części mowy, określeniu ich statusu, genezy, struktury semantycznej, formantów słowotwórczych, specyfiki funkcjonowania itp. Przedstawiono szczególną rolę języka polskiego w utrwaleniu się deminutywów oraz wyjaśniono przyczyny czynnego funkcjonowania deminutywów w języku społeczności lwowskiej. Wskazano, że różnorodność modyfikacyjnych struktur deminutywnych w mowie mieszkańców Lwowa obrazuje wysoką produktywność słowotwórczego modelu deminutywnego. Udowodniono, że deminutywy і deminutywność są skarbnicą pamięci kulturowej Lwowa, reprezentacją wyobrażeń mieszkańców tego miasta o świecie, znaczącym składnikiem ich gwarowego obrazu świata, jednym z ważnych wyznaczników tożsamości lwowskiej.
