The article discusses the preliminary conclusions of the ethnographic research, carried out in Wrocław at the turn of June and July 2019, regarding the perception of Wrocław Jews by young city residents. The research was aimed at verifying the state of knowledge about the history of Jews in Wrocław, their contemporary social, cultural and religious activities as well as the Jewish culture itself. An important aspect was to check how this community functions in the minds of young city residents, what is the impact of stereotypes on its perception, and what are the sources of knowledge about it. It was also important to determine which places in space are identified as Jewish and to find out if young residents of Wrocław participate in events organized by the Jewish community, how they evaluate them and whether they consider them necessary.

Artykuł prezentuje wstępne wnioski z badań terenowych przeprowadzonych na terenie Wrocławia na przełomie czerwca i lipca 2019 r., dotyczących postrzegania Żydów wrocławskich przez młodych mieszkańców miasta. Badania miały na celu zweryfikować stan wiedzy na temat historii Żydów we Wrocławiu, ich współczesnej działalności społecznej, kulturalnej i religijnej oraz samej kultury żydowskiej. Ważnym ich aspektem było sprawdzenie, w jaki sposób społeczność ta funkcjonuje w świadomości młodych mieszkańców miasta, jakie jest oddziaływanie stereotypów na jej postrzeganie oraz jakie są źródła wiedzy na jej temat. Istotne było także określenie, które miejsca w przestrzeni identyfikowane są jako żydowskie oraz dowiedzenie się, czy młodzi mieszkańcy Wrocławia uczestniczą w wydarzeniach organizowanych przez społeczność żydowską, jak je oceniają i czy uważają je za potrzebne.

Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie idei miast sprawiedliwości naprawczej i prób stosowania praktyk naprawczych przez instytucje samorządowe oraz organizacje pozarządowe we Wrocławiu oraz sposobów angażowania społeczności lokalnych w rozwiązywanie problemów społecznych i konfliktów dotykających mieszkańców miasta. Odnosi się do koncepcji sprawiedliwości naprawczej, która staje się skutecznym narzędziem naprawy relacji społecznych poprzez odbudowanie więzi międzyludzkich, pełni także funkcję edukacyjną, przyczyniając się do rewitalizacji wspólnot i budowy społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. Wskazuje na znaczenie wspólnot lokalnych i środowiskowych, które jako ofiary przestępstw czy konfliktów, ale również jako podmioty współodpowiedzialne za ich przyczyny i skutki, mogą włączać się na różne sposoby w proces naprawczy.

The article aims to present the idea of restorative justice cities and attempts to apply restorative practices by local government institutions and nongovernmental organizations in Wrocław, as well as ways of involving local communities in solving social problems and conflicts affecting city residents. It refers to the concept of restorative justice, which becomes an effective tool for repairing social relations by rebuilding interpersonal bonds, it also plays an educational role, contributing to the revitalization of communities and building a civil society. The article points to the importance of local and environmental communities which, as victims of crimes or conflicts, but also as entities co-responsible for their causes and effects, may be involved in the remedial process in various ways.

The article relates to various aspects of religious life and religious practice in the Wroclaw Jewish Community, refering also to the changes which took place in this area since its inception after war. Indicates a legal basis for the existence and conduct religious activities by Jewish Communities, and discusses the religious identification of the Wroclaw Jewish Community and people her forming. Emphasizes the role of the rabbi in the rebirth process of Jewish religious life in Wroclaw and integrating members of the community. It refers to the weekly and annual religious festivals celebrated in the Community, to the specifics of the liturgy and prayers, and to the attitude to the rules of kashrut and to the practiced religious rituals by Community members. The paper draws attention both to the phenomenon of return to Judaism through the rite of conversion, largely by young people, and on the process of substitution of religious knowledge by the sense of community.

Artykuł dotyczy różnych aspektów życia religijnego i praktyk religijnych we współczesnej gminie żydowskiej we Wrocławiu, odnosząc się jednocześnie do zmian, jakie następowały wtej sferze od momentu powstania powojennej gminy wrocławskiej. Wskazuje na podstawy prawne istnienia i prowadzenia działalności religijnej przez gminy żydowskie, na identyfikację religijną gminy wrocławskiej oraz tworzącej ją społeczności. Podkreśla rolę rabina w procesie odradzania się żydowskiego życia religijnego we Wrocławiu i integrowania członków gminy. Odnosi się m.in. do cotygodniowych i dorocznych świąt religijnych celebrowanych w gminie, specyfiki sprawowanej liturgii i odmawianych modlitw, stosunku do reguł kaszrutu czy religijnych obrzędów praktykowanych przez członków wspólnoty. Zwraca uwagę na zjawisko powrotów do judaizmu, w dużej mierze osób młodych, poprzez obrzęd konwersji, ale jednocześnie także na proces zastępowania wiedzy religijnej przez poczucie wspólnoty.

The article is based on empirical research, one of the elements of which was to verify the knowledge, beliefs and ideas of young Wrocław residents about the Jewish cemeteries located in the city. The subject of the analysis was, first of all, knowledge of their history, importance for local culture and community; ideas about the role of cemeteries in Jewish culture and customs related to death and funeral. An important aspect was also finding out what the place of cemeteries is and how they are perceived in the local community, do they function in the minds of young people and in what way, are they really known to them and are they associated with the Jewish community living here, or rather perceived as places of memory and museum space.
