This paper presents the autobiographical account of the mother of a deafson in relation to the process of educating a child within the scope of sign language.It discusses the difficulties with which hearing parents have to struggle if they wantto communicate with their own children through sign language, and the advantagesresulting from the selection of this very manner of communication.

Artykuł przedstawia autobiograficzną relację matki syna słabosłyszącego,dotyczącą procesu kształcenia dziecka w zakresie języka migowego. Omawianesą w nim trudności, z jakimi zmagają się rodzice słyszący, chcący komunikować sięz własnym dzieckiem za pomocą języka migowego, oraz rozważane korzyści, wynikającez wyboru takiego właśnie sposobu komunikacji.
