The objection of the master thesis so entitled was to map out the evolution, occurrence and frequency of Christian names in a particular area of the 18th century and also to pay attention to some social aspects of name functions, related especially to their selection and motivation. The thesis certainly could not cover the whole topic of Christian names in Klatovy Region of the 18th century. It would also be possible to focus on other means of name motivation – i.e. for example after grandparents, deceased siblings, and other relatives – though considering the available resources, this would be a very hard and not completely feasible task.
