W artykule podjęto problem reformowania polskiego systemu oświaty i upowszechniania kształcenia ustawicznego w ramach przyjętego do realizacji w latach 2007–2013 Programu Operacyjnego Kapitał Ludzki. Program, w 85% finansowany ze środków Europejskiego Funduszu Społecznego, obejmuje trzy priorytety związane z tą sferą życia społecznego. To: Wysoka jakość oświaty (P-3), Szkolnictwo wyższe i nauka (P-4) oraz Rozwój wykształcenia i kompetencji w regionach (P-9).

The article presents the problem of reforms to the Polish educational system and popularization of permanent education within the framework of Human Capital Operating Programme to complete in 2007–2013. The Programme, financed in 85% from the European Social Fund, comprises three priorities connected with that sphere of social activity, namely High Quality of Education (P-3), Higher Education and Science (P-4), and Development of Education and Competence in Regions (P-9).
In search of optimum patterns of the prevention of marginalization of older people, this article outlines some European models of educational projects of universities of the third age, aimed at their multifunctional activity related to compensation of social deficits connected with crossing the threshold of the retirement age. By signaling problems related to the growing demographic old age and the functioning of a negative stereotype of the third tierce of life, an attempt is made to show the main directions of actions, which – in the framework of the personalization of individuals through education – should be adopted to reduce and hamper the phenomenon of growing social marginalization of the population of old people.
This article analyses contemporary demographic trends and transformations taking place in the structure of the Polish society. Multigenerational, longer and longer lifespan with decreased retirement age and the family model change have been recognised as the basis of contemporary challenges to social policy. It was stressed that social solidarity in the current dimension in the situation of further ageing of the population will be insufficient. It can be replaced by a conflict of generations the instruments aimed at stabilising the relations between the generations, shaping social relationships, guarantee of social security. An opportunity is the development of the service sector, professional activation 50-60+, environmental integration and strengthening of intergenerational dialogue.
Artykuł prezentuje sylwetkę profesor Lucyny Frąckiewicz, zawiera jej biografię, przedstawia drogę naukową, pracę zawodową oraz najważniejsze dokonania naukowe. Swoje życie zawodowe profesor Frąckiewicz związała ze Śląskiem, choć do końca angażowała swój czas i swoją energię w pracę w instytucjach naukowych o zasięgu krajowym i międzynarodowym. Celem artykułu jest nie tylko ukazanie drogi zawodowej i naukowej profesor Frąckiewicz, ale zaprezentowanie Jej jako osoby, która prowadziła życie wypełnione mądrością, życzliwością, a Jej osoba stanowi wzór do naśladowania dla wielu pokoleń.
The text being presented, is devoted to analyzing determinants of the ef- ficiently functioning society - the society, which on the one hand, is characterized by unfavourable demographical changes, and on the other hand by promoting access to knowledge. The argument was based on the thesis that the agreement between demog- raphically aging society and information challenges of the European future is possible due to lifetime education and common access to knowledge and new technologies. It was observed that they are most efficient and appreciated forms of prophylactics in the fields of ageism and exclusion of the third generation. Social politicians are recommended to concentrate on this kind of prophylactics, however, since the process is long-lasting it should be treated as a priority, a determinant of the quality of life and future civilization.
