The article presents the situation of selected branches of pork production sector in Poland against the largest pork producers in the European Union. The volume of production and prices of pigs was analysed. Finally, the cost of pig production and the level of profitability in selected member countries of the Community were compared.

W artykule przedstawiono sytuację wybranych elementów sektora produkcji mięsa wieprzowego w Polsce, na tle największych producentów wieprzowiny w Unii Europejskiej. Analizowano wielkość produkcji oraz ceny trzody chlewnej. Dokonano porównania kosztów i opłacalności produkcji świń w wybranych krajach członkowskich Wspólnoty.

The process of pigs producer groups formation in Poland is quite dynamic. Currently on the pork market 181 groups operate, which includes about 4000 swine producers. The aim of this study was to characterize the activities of the Agricultural Producers Association in Biała District. The research tool was a personal questionnaire and the research sample consisted of 30 farmers. It has been shown that after joining the producers group, the investigated households reported an increase in sales volume and improved the flock production parameters. Majority of the respondents were not satisfied with the cooperation with meat processing companies.

Proces powstawania grup producentów trzody chlewnej w Polsce jest dość dynamiczny. Obecnie na rynku wieprzowiny funkcjonuje 181 grup, które zrzeszają około 4000 producentów świń. Celem pracy była charakterystyka działalności Zrzeszenia Producentów Rolnych Gminy Biała. Narzędziem badawczym był kwestionariusz osobowy, a próbę badawczą stanowiło 30 rolników należących do grupy producentów. Badania przyczyniły się do określenia profilu zrzeszonych producentów oraz ich gospodarstw. Wykazano, że po wstąpieniu do grupy producenckiej, w badanych gospodarstwach notowano wzrost wielkości sprzedaży, a także poprawę parametrów produkcyjnych tuczników. Większość producentów nie była zadowolona ze współpracy z zakładami mięsnymi.
