Recogiendo la herencia de una tradición más que centenaria, la esencia del carnaval montevideano remite a una rica colección de discursos en los que decenas de espectáculos populares repasan en clave humorística los avatares políticos, sociales y culturales del año. El trabajo pone el foco en algunos de los discursos que reflejaron de una manera u otra las múltiples formas de vivir y sentir en el contexto singular de la pandemia.

Building on the heritage of a tradition that goes over a century, the essence of Montevideo’s carnival refers to a rich collection of discourses in which dozens of popular shows review the political, social, and cultural vicissitudes of the year in a humorous manner. This work focuses on some of the discourses that reflect the multiple ways of living and feeling in the unique context of the COVID pandemic.
