The article discusses the importance of labour resources in the socio-economic development of Czechoslovakia. The development poses increasingly bigger requirements also as regards demand for qualified cadres. It is necessary to reckon with a more pronounced impact of scientific-technical progress on employees structure of qualifications after 1990. Full mechanization and automation based on computer techniques will be of special importance here.
