The analysis of the labour market and the employment policy performance requires explicit definition of many concepts, typical for these fields of socio-economical theory and pragmatism. The author distinguishes the following types of instruments influencing the labour market: legal, financial-economical, simulative, administrational and organisational. The labour market mechanism, adequate to needs of the Polish economy should be based on hard and cohesive financial and economical system, eliminating from the economy ineffective units. The casual administrative interferences should be consequently excluded, in a presence of stable legal regulations. Unfortunately in the real life such stipulations are often abandon.
