Niniejszy tekst poświęcony jest ochronie praw podstawowych obywateli Unii Europejskiej. Pierwsza część definiuje i charakteryzuje obywatelstwo Unii Europejskiej. Część druga wprowadza do tematyki ochrony praw jednostki w Unii Europejskiej. Kolejna, trzecia, traktuje o rozwoju prawnej ochrony praw podstawowych w Unii Europejskiej. Część czwarta charakteryzuje Kartę Praw Podstawowych jako podstawowe źródło praw jednostki w Unii Europejskiej. Część piąta, zarazem ostatnia, określa mechanizmy dochodzenia praw jednostki według prawa Unii Europejskiej. Całość kończą wnioski i wykaz wykorzystanych źródeł. Pracę oparto na literaturze przedmiotu, orzecznictwie oraz aktach prawnych Unii Europejskiej.

The text is dedicated to legal protection of fundamental rights of the citizens of the European Union. The first part defines and characterize citizenship of the European Union. Second part introduces individual right and its protection in the European Union. Next, third one, is about development of protection of fundamental rights in the European Union. Fourth part characterize Charter of Fundamental Rights as basic source of individual rights in the European Union. Fifth part, which is the last one, describes mechanisms of enforcement of individual rights under European Union law. The paper finishes with conclusions and list of references and sources.
