Elfriede Jelinek to ważna i znana autorka w Polsce, ikona dla wielu pisarzy i pisarek, które odczytują i interpretują jej twórczość na własnych zasadach, co prowadzi do licznych refrakcji. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą przyjrzenia się, jak Michał Witkowski (rocznik 1975) odczytuje teksty noblistki i wykorzystuje jej image w swej twórczości literackiej, wywiadach i nowych mediach (portalach społecznościowych itp.). Szczególnie w powieści Zbrodniarz i dziewczyna pisarz poświęca wiele uwagi symbolowi/ikonie Elfriede Jelinek, a nie jej działalności twórczej. Działalność artystyczna i pozaartystyczna Witkowskiego stanowi przykład interesującego trybutu literackiego i rodzaj niedoczytania (misreading).

Elfriede Jelinek is a well-known author in Poland, she is an icon for many polish male and female writers, who read and interpretate her books in their own ways, with many refractions. This paper is a case study about how Michał Witkowski a young polish writer (1975) reads her books and uses her image in his literary works, interviews and new media. Especially in his novel Zbrodniarz i dziewczyna [A criminal and a girl] he is interested in a symbol/icon Elfriede Jelinek, not really in her writings. His work is an interesting literary tribute and an example of misreading.

Elfriede Jelinek fungiert in Polen als eine wichtige und berühmte Autorin, eine Ikone für viele SchriftstellerInnen, die ihre Texte auf eine eigentümliche Art und Weise lesen und interpretieren, was zu vielen Refraktionen führt. Insbesondere Michał Witkowski (Jahrgang 1975) beruft sich auf Jelineks Schaffen und ihr Image, sowohl in seinem literarischen Schaffen, als auch in zahlreichen Interviews und in neuen Medien. Sein Roman Zbrodniarz i dziewczyna [Der Verbrecher und das Mädchen] ist ein Paradebeispiel für seine Strategien: im Mittelpunkt steht das Symbol Elfriede Jelinek und nicht ihr literarisches Schaffen. Witkowskis Herangehensweise ist eine interessante literarische Hommage und eine Art misreading zugleich.
