The goal of theology is to present, among others, the adequate explanation for the Christian piety. For that reason the attempt is made to define specificity of the acts of offering, dedication and enthronement to which we are encouraged within the cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It seems that with its internal logic they are the closest to the religious vows themselves traditional religious acts. The believer takes up through them in front of God his or her personal commitment to follow particular behaviour, involving certain good. In above acts point is to create a similar effect. Placing the above acts in that perspective brings about a deeply religious meaning and additionally shows that they can profoundly contribute to the building of the integrity of the believer.

The issue addressed in the publication has been placed within a qualitative methodology framework. The study involved 38 unmarried women aged 35–42. The aim of the research is to learn about the expectations of adolescent women of the form of marriage and family life. In the research, one form of case study was implemented, i.e. biographical method. The material was collected with a modified technique of autobiographical-narrative interview. The results of the study proved that most of the women wanted to get married when they were 19–21 years old. All the interviewees dreamed of a church wedding as it is inseparably accompanied by a wedding show. Some of the women did not consider marriage when they were 19–21 of age. Their idea for adult life was to live in a long-lasting informal relationship. Three adolescent women rejected not only living in marriage but also the participation of a man in their lives.
One of the greatest social problems of our society deals with the insolubility of the marriages. In the modern society there are so many marriages, which fall apart. This is also a problem and challenge to the Church. Even many Catholics live in partnership without sacramental bonds. Also many young Catholics do not find enough motivation to make the decision about sacramental marriage. One of the reasons of such a situation is the recycling mentality of the modern society. According to it, it is easier to change one’s life partner than to care for the repairing of the torn bonds of one’s marriage. Divorces are not only socially accepted, but also very easy to get, even though they involve some expenses. A positive characteristic of the modern society is lifelong learning, which might include also religious education and upbringing. One of the means, which might be used to support the religious education process, is the wedding homily. It is addressed to all the participants of the ceremony. The polls organized by the Holy See showed that the faithful greatly appreciate the homilies, which they hear during the church liturgy. The preachers then should not ignore the wonderful opportunity provided by the wedding homilies. First of all it is the duty of the priests active in the pastoral care and then also the right of the faithful to be nurtured by the words of their priests. It is a most suitable opportunity to promote the Catholic vision of marriage and to express the genuine care of the Church for the marriages and families, as well as to express respect for those, who experience problems. Both, the thoughts and the form of their delivery might play an educative role especially for the married couples, those who think about getting married and those who experience problems in their marital life.

Betrothal or marriage may be treated as a kind of a social institution and is described in categories of patterns associated with performing the role of a fiancé, wife or husband. Engagement and marriage also determine new periods in life and can be viewed through a prism of individual experiences of individuals. In the postmodern society identities are no longer received automatically through the rituals and social practices of the traditional social order. The self has become a reflective project. Based on the In-Depth Personal Interviews, the paper examines how young spouses perceive themselves and how their ‘significant others’ perceive them after the betrothal and after marriage. This paper is based mainly on the results of the author’s study carried out in 2014 (25 husbands and other 25 wives; different social status; duration of the marriage 3-24 months). The range of the changes differs among men and women, among premarital cohabitants and non-cohabitants, most often, being connected with the changes in the sense of adulthood, responsibility and the self-esteem. Irrespectively of the quality of emotions experienced, in the majority of respondents only the day of premarital cohabitation or the marriage ceremony itself forced the reorganisation of their self-image.

In the period in question, the family in the Czech Lands was usually comprised of between five and seven members – father, mother and children. Founding a family was subject to the agreement of the lord of the manor (in the countryside) or the municipal authority (in the town). „Confirmation of probity” was requested from the seigniorial authorities in Catholic parishes even after the abolition of serfdom in the Habsburg monarchy (1781), while the approval of the couple’s legal representatives (parents) was also required in the case of the marriage of people younger than twenty-four (the age of maturity). Partners were chosen by parents according to their property and social standing. People to be married were generally not only from the same social class, but also from the same place or nearby in the surrounding area. No lower age limit for marriage was stipulated by the law, though grooms younger than twenty were the exception, while around a fifth of brides were younger than twenty. The family represented a small social group comprised of individuals joined by marriage, consanguinity or adoption. It was seen as an institution to which the greatest regard was given. Its integrity was protected by a number of laws and traditions. In the first half of the nineteenth century, women usually got married between the ages of twenty and twenty-five, and men between the ages of twenty-five and thirty. The upper age limit, however, approached a figure of as much as fifty, or even exceeded it, for men living in towns. The age of brides was also higher in town families, among which couples being engaged for many years was also not unusual. This was particularly common among clerical workers, who had to attain a certain standing in order to be able to found a family. What’s more, according to the imperial decree of 1800, every state or municipal official needed the agreement of his superior if his pay had not reached a certain financial „ceiling”. A marriage licence was also conditional to the attainment of a certain service position for policemen, soldiers, financial guards and teachers. People entered into marriage earlier in Moravia than in Bohemia. Around ten percent of the population of the Czech Lands remained unmarried. As far as women were concerned, these were maids and the daughters of less affluent tradesmen, clerical workers or poor aristocratic families that did not have a sufficiently large dowry. In the first half of the nineteenth century, there was an increasing number of „deferred weddings”, particularly in the towns, when a couple became married only when they already had a number of illegitimate children; this was particularly evident in the border areas inhabited by a German population.

W omawianym okresie w krajach czeskich rodzina składała się zwykle z 5–7 osób. Tworzyli ją ojciec, matka i dzieci.
A church reform introduced in East Prussia in 1525 brought the change of current religious relationships. In place of catholic Church the new Lutheran confession was officially introduced. To the half of the 19th century mixed marriages and mutual conversions have rarely appeared. Only in the 19th century, along with numerical height of the catholic community this problem started appearing more often. Analysis of statistical datas from the end of the 19th age and the 20th beginning are showing that such marriages have more often been contained in the Lutheran Church, and that the children were also being raised mainly in this faith. Also the balance of mutual conversions was advantageous for the Lutheran Church. Therefore in connecting to the roman catholic Church the Lutheran Church did not only lose, but even attracted new faithful. After the Second World War Lutherans became minority faith. Because of dislike from authorities and intolerance from new catholic settlers, Lutherans tried to avoid mixed marriages. If it already reached them, in general the marriage ceremony and baptism of children took place at the Roman Catholic Church. Sometimes occurred that the Lutherans on Masuria made conversion to Catholic faith right before entering into marriage with the Catholic. To the end of the fiftieth years mixed marriages constituted the little percent contained in both churches of marriage ceremonies. If to add the high birth rate in Masuria families, a statement that the mixed marriages and conversions to Catholicism did not have a direct effect to the demographic situation of the Lutheran Church on Masuria will be entitled. Clearly negative consequences of catholic – Lutheran marriages turned up only at the more late period. Taking the mentioned subject matter was aimed at introducing to the issue of the interrelation the evangelical and catholic community on Masuria. These issues have always aroused great emotions, especially when it was direct confrontation of representatives of both religious groups. Particularly when containing mixed marriages and associated with them conversions reached situations, in which both Churches accused each other mutually against the proselytism and the religious intolerance. It seems that It was a long-lasting element of the mutual coexistence, evangelicals and Catholics which with special power appeared in the first post-war years. Also in late years the interrelation was not also deprived of difficult and dramatic moments.
