Despite long-going discussions among scholars of various disciplines, there is no consensus as to the location of the Slavic homeland. The article describes the recent discoveries in population genetics, which may shed some light on the problem of the Slavic origins. In the first part, the author gives a synthetic description of various theories concerning the origins of the Slavs, with focus on linguist’s views. The second part is devoted to the results of the latest research in population genetics: analyses of contemporary mtDNA, Y-DNA and autosomal DNA of the Slavic nations, as well as ancient mtDNA from the territory of contemporary Poland.

Несмотря на многолетние дискуссии между учеными различных специальностей, не существует единого мнения относительно расположения славянской прародины. В статье описываются последние открытия в области генетики, которые могут пролить свет на проблему славянского происхождения. В первой части, автор дает синтетическое описание различных теорий, касающихся происхождения славян, с акцентом на взгляды лингвистов. Вторая часть посвящена результатам последних исследований в области генетики: анализам современной мтДНК, Y-ДНК и автосомной ДНК славянских народов, а также древней мтДНК с территории современной Польши.
