Niewątpliwie Stany Zjednoczone i Chiny osiągnęły punkt zwrotny w swoich stosunkach gospodarczych i są obecnie uwikłane w poważny konfl ikt handlowy, który może przerodzić się nawet w „wojnę handlową”. Negocjacje są w toku, ale możliwość osiągnięcia porozumienia jest jak na razie znikoma. Celem naukowym artykułu jest analiza przyczyn, przebiegu i konsekwencji rywalizacji handlowej między Stanami Zjednoczonymi Ameryki i Chińską Republiką Ludową. Problem badawczy sprowadza się do pytań: jakie są przyczyny amerykańsko-chińskiej „wojny handlowej” po 2018 r. oraz jakie będą jej długoterminowe konsekwencje dla gospodarek obu państw oraz ich kluczowych partnerów gospodarczych. W niniejszym artykule zastosowano metodę krytycznej analizy treści oraz metodę ekstrapolacji.

Undoubtedly, the United States and China have reached a turning point in their economic relations and are currently embroiled in a serious trade confl ict that can even turn into a trade war. Negotiations are in progress, but the possibility of reaching an agreement has been limited so far. The scientifi c goal of the article is to analyse the causes, course and consequences of trade rivalry between the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China. The research problem boils down to the following questions: what are the reasons for the US–China trade war after 2018 and what will be its long-term consequences for the economies of both countries and their key economic partners? This article uses the critical content analysis method and the extrapolation method.
