Media and consumer society have changed the conception of writer. Today writers keep being interviewed throughout their lives, especially when they win a prize, as has happened to José Saramago. In this paper, we will study his last interview, edited in a book by José Rodrigues dos Santos, aiming at discussing the relevance of serializing the so called literary interviews and analyzing the image of the Portuguese Nobel conveyed by this text.
