This article discuses aviation relation between the European Community and the United States. It analyses opportunities and threats that arise for air carriers form the agreement agreed between the United States on the one part and the European Community and its Member States on the other part. Additionally the article presents some outcomes from the negotiations of the second stage of the agreement as they were known at the moment of writing (Fall 2009). The article starts form the short explanation of the internal regulatory liberalization of air transport that took place in the European Community in the 1990s. It further proceeds with analyses of European’s Commissions extending willingness to regulate external scope of air transport. It discuses European Court of Justice Judgment in Open Skies cases. With a focus on the Air Transport Agreement concluded between The United States on the one part and the European Community and its Member States on the other part in April 2007, it analyses current regulatory environment. In the conclusion the article gives some comments on the current stake of affairs and looks beyond the 2007 Agreement.
