The paper presents Buber's and Wojtyla's conceptions of love and responsibility. For Buber love is the responsibility of 'I' for 'Thou'. The responsibility is identical with answering. The condition of love is the dialogical principle ('I-Thou'). Love and responsibility are impossible with the monological principle ('I-It'). Wojtyla shows different levels (metaphysical, psychological, ethical) and types of love (amor complacentiae, amor concupiscentiae, and amor benevolentiae). The responsibility is for him the consequence of the choice of the one type of love. Additionally, the paper presents affinities and differences in Buber's and Wojtyla's philosophy of love.
