The paper presents results of empirical research on the perception of workaholism related to creative activity among assistant lecturers and assistant professors working at the University of Economics in Katowice, which was conducted in 2013. Eleven working hypotheses were verified in the research, and the results were presented in six points. Opinions concerning the determinants of workaholism were obtained and the criteria of research and didactic workers' performance assessment system, conducive to workaholism (according to the surveyed) were defined. Auto-perception of workaholism among the assistant lecturers and assistant professors was presented and the identification of workaholic types was performed, based on a workaholic triad, as specified by J. Spence and S. Robbins (reservations about such an identification were formulated). Additionally, the study enabled acquiring information referring to emotions accompanying scientific and research work and their influence on health and relationship with others in one's living environment as well as one's workplace. Finally, the results of the impact of long-term workaholism on work efficiency were presented.

Zadanie zacieśnienia współpracy pracowników służb statystycznych (statystyków praktyków) z pracownikami teorii statystyki i dyscyplin pokrewnych od wielu lat jest przedmiotem stałej troski służb statystyki oficjalnej. Statystycy praktycy w nawiązaniu ściślejszej współpracy z nauką widzą przede wszystkim możliwość: opracowania i wdrożenia naukowo uzasadnionych metod badań statystycznych, zapewniających lepszą jakość wyników, wzbogacenia metod analiz statystycznych i dzięki temu zwiększenie akceptacji społecznej i zaufania do przedstawionych przez statystyków opracowań i analiz. Z drugiej strony, pracownicy nauki statystycznej, dzięki współpracy ze służbami statystycznymi mogą znacznie szerzej wykorzystywać wyniki badań statystycznych do wzbogacenia swojej działalności zarówno w dziedzinie badań naukowych, jak i w pracy dydaktycznej. This paper aims to present how knowledge management processes can ehhance progress towards corporate social responsibility (CSR). Second part of the article describe the research was carried among employees of University of Economic in Katowice in 2013. The aim of research was to identify the level of corporate social responsibility recognition.

The paper presented results of empirical research obtained by means of a survey questionnaire and concerning the perception of workaholism by current doctoral students of the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. There were 87 doctoral students from all years of study participating in the survey. Opinions of the doctoral students surveyed on the perception of the phenomenon of workaholism, both in relations to themselves and to other persons in their environment, were obtained. The factors which, as reported by the respondents, influence workaholism were determined. Additionally, the impact exerted by the addiction on social relations of workaholics as well as doctoral students' perception of workaholism were analysed. Conclusions concerning the justifiability of medical treatment with regard to persons affected with workaholism and the term of Adult Children of a Workaholic were formed. The results obtained in the study clarify the standpoint of doctoral students in relation to workaholism as an addiction and may form the grounds for further scientific research concerning the issue among young persons engaged in creative activity.
